In the sport that matters most to it, football, England doesn’t have a rich history of success. However, when it comes to dominating the other sports, well, no, again England fails to truly thrive.

But that’s not to say that the Queen’s finest country hasn’t had more than their fair share of icons and cult heroes to worship and adore.

And no, David Beckham didn’t make it.

The problem England’s sporting history has, is that the English public struggle to identify with a lot of these sportsmen and women because they’re robotic.

Sure, they’re dedicated and impressive, but they’re walking cliché machines who struggle to show any form of personality.

There’s a reason the English love a good underdog story and are drawn to the more entertaining and renegade personalities out there in the warped modern day society.
