Daniel Ricciardo was one of the most consistent drivers in the 2016 season, finishing 3rd in the Driver standings. The Aussie quietly put in consistent solid results whilst his teammate Max Verstappen took the limelight for the good and bad.
Daniel Ricciardo spoke to Mobil 1 The Grid about his prospects for the upcoming season:
Ricciardo has prepared massively for the upcoming season as Red Bull look to take the fight to Mercedes and hold off a strong looking Ferrari team. The Aussie driver said,
“Preparing for these cars has been a lot of fun, because it meant I could really get after the physical training side in the off-season rather than just top up and keep things at a certain level because the physical challenge wasn’t as great, or because we didn’t want to put weight on that we didn’t need. I had a small break over Christmas, and then it was to the US to really get into the prep for the season, and we went pretty hard.”

Ricciardo will once again go head-to-head with the highly rated Max Verstappen, who is going into his first full season with Red Bull. It will be interesting to see how their battle evolves, especially if the RB13 is good enough to fight for the title.
Whilst Mercedes is the safe bet, there have been massive gains made by Renault and their power unit. If Red Bull can close the gap a bit more to Mercedes in the aero department, then it will be a tight contest for the title in 2017.
If the Honeybadger can retain the consistency that he showed in 2016 with a car capable of winning regularly, then everything’s there for him to claim the World Championship. Red Bull have two future World Champions driving for them – The question is, which one will become the Formula One World Champion first?
