Ben Crane Decides to Take a Shortcut at the Zurich Classic

Ben Crane has always beat to the sound of his own drum, and that was definitely on display Friday at the Zurich Classic. Teeing off on the sixth hole, Crane aimed for the fifth fairway. Yes, the fifth fairway. As in the hole he had just finished.

Crane hilariously said, “shortcut,” almost immediately after impact. He acted like a kid who got away with something. Nick Faldo, however, was entirely caught off guard: “How did he see that? Is that allowed?”

Crane went on to hit the sixth green in regulation and two-putt for par. The only thing missing was his lycra jumpsuit.

Crane shot an opening round 67 on Thursday.
