A day of hope for golf quickly turned into a nightmare when Tiger Woods imploded at the Wyndham Championship and a dinosaur from the past emerged victorious.
Davis Love III became the third-oldest winner in PGA TOUR history, crushing every millennials spirit who had tuned in to watch Tiger Woods make his triumphant return to the winner’s circle.
Love, 51, shot a 64 for to beat Jason Gore by a single stroke.
The storyline that dominated golf all week was the return to form of Woods, who needed to win the tournament to seal a spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs, which begins next week.
For Tiger fans, he imploded when he shanked a chip shot on the par-4 11th hole, ending up with a triple bogey. Woods shot a 70 to finish four strokes back.
