Pistorious To Take Up Golf?!

The ex-professional athlete is said to be considering golf as his athletic career is almost certainly finished.

Oscar Pistorius is currently one year through a five-year prison sentence and is considering his options within the sporting world. He is not allowed to compete in Athletics for a further four years, as he sees out the remainder of his sentence.

‘The Blade Runner’ is serving a sentence for culpable homicide, following the shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, two years ago. South African law permits those serving a sentence of less than five years can appeal for parole after a sixth of their sentence has been served.

A family source quoted in the Daily Star said “He is still an amateur but may go pro in time if he can gain sponsorship and support.” “It’s always been his second passion after running and he has the drive to launch a lucrative career.”

I for one can’t imagine sponsors will be keen to get behind the 28-year old former sprinter. Controversy remains surrounding the severity of his sentence with Reeva’s family stating their dissatisfaction with the length of his term. “Incarceration of 10 months for taking a life is simply not enough,” her parents June and Barry Steenkamp said in a statement released online.

Golf Digest reports that Pistorius has an 18 handicap. To confirm your query, they think a professional career for him is unlikely, so do we.
