- He reflects on his career and his love life.
Tiger Woods was pretty private about his personal life, until he couldn’t be anymore. Now with nothing to hide, Tiger talks about everything he regrets, is proud of, and how he will move forward.
He Doesn’t Watch Golf
He actually hates it. Which makes sense because wouldn’t you hate watching a sport you used to be the best at, while bed ridden? He says that he only watches it if he knows one of his friends (he mentions Jason Day) has a chance to win, and even then the TV will be on mute and something else will be playing as well.
He Walks On The Beach
Not the “long walks on a beach” date type of walk. The “this is all I can do right now” type of walk. He is taking it day by day but mostly he lays on the couch or in his bed, because there’s nothing else he can do. He needs to wait for his back to heal and there really is no timeline for when that will be. He’ll take a walk on the beach once in a while and then go straight back to lying down. At least he has the Ryder Cup to look forward to.
His Daughter Saved His Life
There was a time where Tiger was practicing in his backyard after getting back surgery, testing things out. He took a swing and instantly fell down. He hadn’t brought his phone outside and so he couldn’t call anyone for help. He recalls how his daughter was a “daddy’s girl” and came outside to hang out with him, and when she saw him she asked, “Daddy, what are you doing lying on the ground?”. He told her to go get help and in that moment he was truly grateful.
Relationships Take Work
Both Tiger and Lindsey were dedicated to their sports at the time they were dating. Golf and skiing have opposite ON seasons and it was difficult to see each other through travel and training. He was also dedicated to his kids and didn’t want to spend too much time away from them. Speaking of his kids, he said he would choose them over golf indefinitely.
As for his ex-wife, he talks about how time has healed most wounds and now they’re “best friends”. They talk to each other about the others life and they love their children very much. He has had to discuss with his kids some of the past to explain certain things. “Guys, the reason why we’re not in the same house, why we don’t live under the same roof, Mommy and Daddy, is because Daddy made some mistakes.” He’s being honest and taking initiative about the whole thing, with himself, with the kids and with Elin. Maybe there’s hope for Tiger and Elin, after all.
We’ve heard it all. His back is not doing well and now all there is to do is wait. He is proud of all that he has accomplished at such a young age, but he wasn’t expecting it to end so early. We’re hoping all the best for Tiger and mostly for a speedy recovery so he can get back to where he belongs. On the green.
