  • Rory McIlroy’s a busy man this year.
  • How else will he nab that number one spot?

Rory McIlroy has ensured that his schedule will be jam-packed for 2016. Partly, it’s to make up for all the time that was lost after the ankle debacle this year. But most importantly, he’s got some catching up to do. Though the differences are marginal, he’s fallen behind both Jason Day and Jordan Spieth in rankings and is eager to reclaim his spot as the World’s No. 1.

“If I can get off to a good start next year, I can get back to number one going into the Masters.”

In order to get your game on, you must have a game plan (ha!). What’s Rory’s?

“I’m going to play two more tournaments leading up to Augusta in April. I need to feel like I’m right in the middle of the season in Augusta. Over the last couple of years, I’ve played pretty well at Augusta but I’ve got off to a little bit of a slow start each time. Whether that was because I was a bit under-golfed, that definitely won’t be the case in 2016.”

Looks like he’s skipping the baby steps and warming up for the kill, as anyone worthy of the world’s number one would.
