Just when you think you’ve seen it all from Louis Van Gaal!
With his Manchester United side leading 3-2 against Arsenal at Old Trafford, tempers started to fray both on the pitch and on the touchline.
Bodies were falling and colliding left right and centre… not even the technical area was safe.
Van Gaal doesn’t usually enter the technical area, so there is always an air of expectancy whenever the eccentric dutchman paces up to the 4th official.
Clearly disgusted by the manner that Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez hit the deck, LVG got into a quarrel with the fourth official on the sidelines; incensed by the referee’s decision.
The noise was near deafening inside Old Trafford as United looked to hold on to a precious win against title contenders Arsenal. Van Gaal was keen to demonstrate to the official that he felt Sanchez had taken a dive to win an offensive freekick… perhaps he felt that his voice wasn’t being heard over the crowd!
Throwing himself to the floor in dramatic fashion, Van Gaal’s dive will surely become one of the United manager’s, if not the Premier League’s most iconic moments.
Van Gaal’s latest mad moment will join the list of stunts and unbelievable anecdotes that already exist from the Dutch coach’s career – famously karate kicking the 4th official to demonstrate a bad tackle!
