Manchester United are very interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, valued at £70million, before the summer.
The 26-year-old, who hails from Gabon, has had a career season for Borussia Dortmund. He’s a walking highlight reel. I do not envy defenders tasked with stopping this juggernaut. Observe:
United isn’t the only club after the Dortmund man – Real Madrid and Chelsea are also keen to spend big to get 26-year-old Aubameyang, who scored 34 goals in 41 games this year.
He’s tallied 23 Bundesliga goals this year, second only to Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski.
And don’t forget about Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp, who has intimate knowledge of what kind of player Aubameyang is after managing him at Borussia Dortmund last year.
Klopp would hate to see a player of his caliber land in the Premier League if he wasn’t suiting up for Liverpool.
Right now, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the girl everyone wants to take to prom. Only problem is that her dad won’t let her go.
Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel did not mince words when he said Aubameyang isn’t going anywhere.
Despite the tough talk, Tuchel and Dortmund might be made an offer they can’t refuse.
They could get three or four quality players for the kind of money they’ll get for Aubameyang. None of them will be as good as him, but their collective value to the team could potentially exceed his.
If Borussia Dortmund want to ever compete with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, they may have to spin off their most valuable asset.
Aubameyang’s ascension to soccer demigod shouldn’t surprise anyone. His performance during the 2014/2015 season was a pretty revealing preview of what was to come this year. Check out his top five goals from last year:
Where Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays his club ball in the future remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: he’ll be scoring a lot of goals.
