All pace, no grace

“Oh, he’s quick, he must be good!”

We’ve all been there. Be it on FIFA or in the terraces, we as football fans always hold the slightest glimmer of hope that a footballer who is lightning quick will bring our team – virtual or otherwise – the added spark required to take that final step towards glory.

Well here’s a list of speedsters that despite their ability to probably run 100m quicker than most Olympic sprinters, shouldn’t really be anywhere near a professional football team.

You could probably build a decent side on FIFA with this lot, but just hope and pray your team doesn’t sign them up in the real world.

Despite this list, it’s worth pointing out that if you are blessed with mercurial pace alongside excellent technique, you can often rise to the highest echelons of the game – think of Robben, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and co., and you get the picture!

At least now the next time you’re being outpaced in your Sunday League game by a nippy winger, you can be reassured that he’s probably not even that good anyway.
