A swing analysis of Nike staff professional Jhonattan Vegas, winner of the 2012 Bob Hope Classic. Jhonattan Vegas studied at the University of Texas where he began his career in golf playing in the NCAA. Born in Venezuela, Vegas learned to play the game using a broomstick and a rock before playing at a local 9 hole facility near his home. In 2010 he finished seventh on the Nationwide Tour money list and earned his 2011 PGA TOUR card – the first Venezuelan to do so.
2011 was a breakout year for Vegas in which he won the Humana Invitational in only his second tour start. Just a couple of weeks later, he came close to winning at Riviera, rocketing him up the money list. Although the second half of 2011 was difficult, Vegas finished in the top 50 on the money list – a sensational feat for a rookie golfer. He remains one of golf’s most exciting young golf prospects.
