As you head out to the course this weekend, spare a thought for poor Steven Bowditch. The Australian broke the worst kind of record at last week’s WGC Cadillac Championship.
Shooting 81-80-80-84 for a 37-over-325 total, he has the highest score in the history of WGC events.
The Aussie is a popular guy on Tour and we were really rooting for him to turn it round. The way he handled last week’s disappointment was hugely admirable. He finished last but still took home a staggering $40,000 just for competing. That made us all drastically rethink our life choices.
Seems about right.. Well done Scotty!! Told you that you wouldn’t get me by 50! pic.twitter.com/3uKWkdWeEg

Bowditch’s misery was prolonged as he left the Copperhead with a 10-over 81. The golfer is in good company; Jordan Spieth shot 5-over and was so displeased he lost his temper with a twitter troll.
Bowditch’s problems with his errant driver continued as he finished with a miserable 15 per cent driving accuracy stat. Copperhead is a notoriously difficult course so expect some high scores going into the weekend and a possible cut hovering around the +2 mark.
