Tiger Woods appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“I’m buying my airline ticket, are you actually going to play?” Colbert asked, referring to Tiger’s claim that he will be playing at the Hero World Challenge.
These were strong words directed at
the boy who cried wolf Tiger Woods.
“I’m playing, I’ll be there playing,” Tiger responded, with the type of certainty that has, in no way, shape, or form, typified his behaviour over the last few months.
How did Tiger pass the time as he recovered from back surgery?
“I applied my same intensity and my craft, my focus, to Call of Duty,” Woods said. “Don’t laugh!” “I would spend eight hours a day, I took a 30-minute lunch break,” Woods continued. “I thought I was getting good and then I went online. When 7-year-olds from around the world are beating you. . . humbling.”
Colbert went on to quiz Tiger about the beard:
“Like the evil twin of Tiger Woods,” he said.
Colbert continued the candid interview with some clever guile. He probed about Tiger’s relationship with Elin Nordegren. “Is she really one of your best friends?” he asked. When Woods confirmed that’s the case, Colbert said, “That’s more impressive than being 11-time PGA Tour Player of the Year!”
