Giants Gaming and Schalke 04 eSports each secured a spot in the EU LCS Spring Promotion tournament, after defeating challenger opposition Wind and Rain and Team RB respectively. Both sides have earned the chance to get now break into the EU LCS itself.
To make it into the promised lands of the 2018 EU LCS, the Challenger Series hopefuls will now face Ninjas in Pyjamas and Mysterious Monkeys to prove their worthy for the two spots available.
Giants Gaming, powered by the prowess of jungler, Berk ‘Gilius’ Demir, were nearly undefeated in the EU Challenger series; losing just one series against Schalke 04 eSports.
Schalke, winning three of their five series, secured crucial victories to set up a shot at promotion:

Giants overwhelmed Wind and Rain in the first of Challenger playoffs. Wind and Rain were left dazed by the potency of the Giants onslaught, blown away by the might of the best Team in EU CS.
Team RB pushed Schalke to the upper limits of their skill, before Schalke recovered in the final Game, securing a spot in the qualifiers.
Standing in the way of the challenger sides progression, Ninjas in Pyjamas – who admittedly haven’t had the best results in the Summer Split – showed signs of improvement in their final games in the EU LCS, proven they have what it takes to be a part of this premier league.
The Mysterious Monkeys roster are all too familiar with the Challenger series. With a team made up of Fnatic and Misfits academy players, the experienced lineup will provide a tough test for both S04 and Giants.
The upcoming Promotion Tournaments games will showcase a level of talent perhaps previous unseen at the event: top-notch action between high skilled teams, that may ultimately be decided by which team is more driven to earn LCS status.
