The holiday season is over, and with the new year comes new resolutions – the perfect time to start looking for a home. Whether you’re looking to settle down, start a family or just have a guaranteed investment for the future, buying rather than renting is a great decision.

With that in mind, we polled people on what their priorities are when looking to buy a new property, and created an algorithm to find the perfect house.

We started searching in Newcastle for a number of reasons – for those of you who haven’t visited already, we definitely recommend it! The city is small enough that you can walk end to end within around 15 minutes.

Additionally, there is great architecture from the glorious Tyne Bridge to the heart of the Grainger Tower; you can always find a good historical building to wander around.

For the party-goers out there, Newcastle is one of the cheapest cities in England to go out in, so you can have a night out without having to dread checking your bank balance the next day.

House prices are very attractive in Newcastle (as they are most places in the North East); you will no longer have to live off baked beans whilst living in a box *cough*London*cough*.
