WATCH: Amar’e Stoudemire KOs guy in Israeli basketball league

Amar’e Stoudemire is many things; 2003 NBA Rookie of the Year, six-time NBA All Star, but above all, a man not to be trifled with. He administered some street-style justice on the court during a recent Israeli Basketball Premier League game to an opponent whose on-court behavior needed to be checked.

Here’s a video with sound:

He absolutely destroyed that dude, but he had it coming. Stoudemire even waves to the crowd afterwards like, “I know – my bad, I just decked homie, but he had it coming and I still f-ck with y’all.”

For context, Amar’e is a big deal in Israel. A lot of guys go overseas and make more noise than they did in the league, some who you might not expect. Here’s a list:

In addition to being one of the highest profile players in Israel and the majority shareholder of Hapoel Jerusalem B.C. (the team for which he currently plays), Amar’e is always defended super aggressively and the dude who he bodied had been fouling Stoudemire and shit-talking all game. As the old adage goes, “Talk shit, get hit.”

Adding another layer of intrigue to Amare’s post-NBA, Israeli basketball career is his quasi-Jewishness. Back in 2010, Stoudemire spoke on the subject,

I have been aware since my youth that I am a Hebrew through my mother, and that is something that has played a subtle but important role in my development.

In 2013, he met with the then-president of Israel, Shimon Peres, who encouraged Stoudemire to join the Israeli national basketball team. Here’s a fascinating piece SportsCenter did on Stoudemire leaving the NBA for Israel:

Interesting guy, Stoudemire. Easily one of the most compelling stars to play in the NBA. Still, he’s not put himself amongst the seven most unbelievable moments in sports history…
