The AFC South division is making all the right noises

In a division where most of the teams wouldn’t be expected many more than eight wins in a season, it would be fair to say that the AFC South hasn’t been home to the best of teams.

Recently though, particularly in 2016 and the ongoing off-season, teams from the AFC South are making strides. Jacksonville in particular are making a lot of noise with some of the additions they’ve made already. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Jaguars in the playoffs next season.

The AFC South is home to two of the most improved teams in the NFL. Marcus Mariota is proving to be the franchise quarterback that fans were hoping for when he was drafted from Oregon. The Titans offensive line also helped to rejuvenate DeMarco Murray after lacking numbers with the Eagles. So could the AFC South finally be looked to as one of the more competitive divisions in the NFL?

It’s tough to call a winner of the AFC South next season with the moves that teams have made so far. It may be a bold shout, but the Jaguars could genuinely have a top-10 defense next season. After all, they do make up over half of our combined XI’s defense.

The fact that this is possible shows how much the division has improved, and the draft hasn’t even arrived yet!
