Aaron Hernandez had a good reason for ending his life

When the recent news came about that former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez had committed suicide in his jail cell, it really was just the final chapter in story packed full of surprises. Details of how and why he did are still being gathered, but a few different theories are being tossed around about why the former tight end killed himself.

Prior to the actual date of his death, Hernandez had reportedly been planning to end his life for a number of weeks according to the New York Post. Given that it was not just a rapid reaction to a certain incident, he likely had a pretty complex reason for going through with his suicide.

Due to a bit of a loophole in a Massachusetts state law, since Hernandez had appeals for some of his convictions still current at the time of his death, those convictions now become non-existent and he will be laid to rest as an innocent man in the eyes of the law (the families of his murder victims may have something to say about that). Since the law sees him as innocent, Hernandez’s family may be in line for some money from his former team.

Since he played at least three years in the NFL, the league is required to provide him with a pension. They would have been off the hook if he were still alive, but due to the funky Massachusetts loophole, his family is reportedly still entitled to his NFL pension according to Jay Busbee of Yahoo! Sports.

So instead of remaining locked behind bars for the rest of his life, perhaps Hernandez wanted to provide for his family one last time?

Another theory that was recently brought up by a Newsweek report is that he decided to end his life in order to keep his sexual orientation a secret. The report mentions that among the numerous notes Hernandez left in his cell, one was for his alleged prison boyfriend.

He also allegedly had a male lover that he knew since his days in high school.

Whatever his motive was, it was a tragic end to a life that seemed full of wasted opportunities. Despite accomplishing his dreams of making it to the NFL, he could never separate himself from the drugs and violence that surrounded him during his youth.

Now a young girl is left without a father and his fiancé is now left without a partner. The saddest part of all of this could actually be that no one may ever find out the real reason why Hernandez is now gone.
