Jealousy is an extremely ugly emotion in any walk of life, and most of the time it comes down to one of two things – love and money. For the latter we tend to look upon sports stars around the world and think to ourselves: “how do they earn more in a week than I do in 10 years?”. Well buckle up, because these are the highest-paid athletes on the planet and these figures will make you feel sick.
A few of the names on here may surprise you just a touch, whether that be because of the person in question or the sport that they compete in. Either way, what you’re about to see will likely sum up why so many non-sports fans complain about the salaries of these top stars, and in a lot of ways you can agree that things have gone a bit mad in terms of overpaying these guys.
Wilt Chamberlain
Pretty hard to find many players who were more dominating than "Wilt the Stilt." During his time with the Lakers, he helped them win the 1972 NBA championship, while being named MVP of the Finals. He may have been more recognized as a Sixer/Warrior, but he's still one of 10 players in Lakers history to have his number retired by the franchise. (Source: Twitter)

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
More MVPs than any player in NBA history, and more points than any player in NBA history, you best believe that Kareem is one of the best Lakers of all time. If none of those previous stats have you sold on Kareem, he also helped the Lakers win 5 NBA championships. (Source: Twitter)

Magic Johnson
Magic was not just the best Laker of all time, but he's arguably the best NBA player of all time. He went to 9 Finals in 13 years, winning 5 of them with 3 Finals MVPs, took home 3 MVP awards for the regular season, and was the best passer the league has ever seen. Magic was the Showtime Lakers, and helped saved the NBA with Larry Bird back in the 80s. God bless you, Magic Johnson. (Source: Twitter)
Shaquille O’Neal
Shaq-Kobe, Kobe-Shaq, however you look at the duo, just know that they were two of the baddest in Lakers history. And while I already talked about Kobe, Shaq was the one that took home the 3 Finals MVP awards during their 3 championships together, as well as a regular season MVP award. I was always more of a Kobe guy, but you can make the argument that Shaq was the better of the two. (Source: Twitter)

When you add up all of these lucrative totals, the overall sum comes in at nearly half a billion English pounds. That is utterly extraordinary, and also a little bit sickening at the same time. Look, we know they work hard to earn their pennies, but are a couple world titles here and there worth it? We’ll let you decide.
