Tom Brady looks to legends as he battles Father Time

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will look to make NFL history this season as the first starting QB 40 years or older to win a Super Bowl. As momentous at that would be, Brady still has a few years to go before he can be crowned the oldest QB in NFL history. That record belongs to George Blanda, who was 48 years old when he threw his last pass for the Oakland Raiders. This got us thinking, who are the oldest players in major pro sports history? Some of the names might surprise you.

Professional sports are a young person’s game, but a few crafty veterans have managed to extend their careers without becoming a joke. After leading the Patriots to a Super Bowl victory at age 39, it’s obvious that Brady still has quite a bit left in the tank. Father Time always wins, but it will be fascinating to see how much longer the future Hall-of-Famer can hold him off.
