It’s fair to say that baseball isn’t the most popular of sports outside North America, with Brits only really being able to catch a glimpse of it in the early hours of the morning. With that being said, the MLB is gaining a greater fan base as the years go on, so we thought that we’d hazard a guess as to what the English usually think whilst watching the matches unfold.
Of course not everyone is going to be an expert so you’ve got to allow for some kind of learning curve, but as a nation we just have such an amusing way of articulating our thoughts that it’d be a shame not to give examples.
So when you’re flicking through BT Sport or Sky over the next few weeks and months, try and give baseball a go in order to test out whether these phrases do in fact pop into your head. Who knows, perhaps you’ll even find a new sport to follow week in and week out.
Then again, the odds are that you’ll stick to watching football with a beer in one hand and a slice of pizza in the other.
