After F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone described modern day F1 drivers as “windbags” last week, Nico Rosberg duly took to Twitter to put the score right. Rosberg couldn’t resist a poke at Bernie on Wednesday, when he and several other drivers – including Fernando Alonso – shared a photo of 18 drivers around a dinner table.

During a rare meal with fellow racing drivers in China, Rosberg poked fun at Bernie who came down hard on F1 racers who recently wrote an open letter issuing concerns about F1’s governance structure. 2. They should not be allowed to talk to media.
3. They are windbags.
4. They are cheap because they never offer to pay for dinner when he takes them out.

Without explicitly doing it, Bernie gave F1’s gladiators the middle finger he’s become so famous for dishing out, albeit subtly.
Rosberg’s tweet contained a cheeky disclaimer: “#racingunited or in Bernie’s words #windbagsunited.” And so the power struggle continues…
