Trevor Bayne’s Darlington Throwback Scheme Revealed

Trevor Bayne and Roush Fenway Racing have revealed that his No. 6 AdvoCare Ford will bear a throwback paint scheme to pay homage to Mark Martin at Darlington Raceway for the Bojangles’ Southern 500.

The red, white, and blue colorway is a nod to the Ford that Mark Martin drove to four wins during the 1996 and 1997 seasons. This is the second year in a row that Bayne’s car at Darlington will have a retro Mark Martin inspired paint job.

Though Bayne was just 5 years old during Mark Martin’s heyday, he spoke fondly of the racer:

“IT’S AN HONOR ANY TIME YOU ARE MENTIONED ALONGSIDE MARK MARTIN. HE OBVIOUSLY CONTRIBUTED A LOT TO ROUSH FENWAY AND THIS ORGANIZATION, SO TO CARRY A PAINT SCHEME THAT HE RAN FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW IS REALLY COOL.”

Trevor Bayne

You may remember Trevor Bayne from 2011 when he burst on to the racing scene by winning the Daytona 500 one day after his 20th birthday, making him the youngest driver ever to win the race.

One of the sport’s brightest young stars, Bayne has been racing go-karts since he was five an signed a contract with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. to race in the NASCAR Camping World East Series in 2008 when he was just 17.

Despite his accolades he’s accumulated, his legacy as the youngest Daytona 500 winner might not be safe for too much longer. Not if this kid has anything to say about it.

Bayne’s probably got a few years before this young buck gets picked up by a team, so he doesn’t have to worry just yet.

In any case, you can catch Trevor Bayne and Roush Fenway Racing in the throwback red, white, and blue Mark Martin No. 6 Ford during the Bonajgles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on September 4th, 2016.
