As we all know, Jack Miller set himself back quite a bit in 2016 by causing grievous injury to his ankle in Austin. This has been a blow to his progress in a multitude of ways. While coming in 17th in Jerez was impressive for someone without full use of his ankle, he was certainly unable to perform at the peak of his ability.

He also missed the first pre-season test in Sepang, making it all the more crucial for him to make every extra test day count. He’s certainly been diligent in his spare time, following Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez on their Repsol Honda Factory bikes to learn to get the most use out of the RC213V. There’ve been plenty of lessons learnt and Miller is headed for the fifth round with every intention of giving everyone else a ride for their money.

“The biggest priority for me is to feel good again on the bike and confirm that I am getting stronger in MotoGP. The result is obviously important but more than anything is my priority to be consistently fast and have a good rhythm for the weekend. I picked up many things during the recent test in Jerez, especially with my lines.

“I followed Marc and Dani and I can see their lines and how they get the best from the bike. I will try some different lines in Le Mans and I feel ready and better prepared than ever. I will give my 100% like always and hope that means we can return to the points again.”

We think that baby steps are good idea for someone who should really be taking it easy. But then again we’re sort of glad for his fighting spirit and look forward to seeing what his sessions with Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez have yielded.
