Just when Max Verstappen might need him the most, Xevi Pujolar will be out of reach. Following Verstappen’s momentous appointment to Red Bull, the Spaniard announced his decision to quit Toro Rosso on Twitter.
Not that he’ll be joining Red Bull Racing to trail after Verstappen either. It’s speculated that he is storming out after a run-in with Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost during the Russian Grand Prix weekend, but we don’t know. He didn’t announce it on Twitter.
@xevipujolar We did a great job together mate. You will come back stronger then ever! 👊🏼💪🏼

As you can see though, there are no hard feelings on Verstappen’s part. The two seemed to share a symbiotic partnership that saw Verstappen all the way to where he is today and he’s grateful for whatever time they had together. We wonder if the sentiments will remain warm and fuzzy if Pujolar got it into his head to bat for Kvyat’s team instead. We suppose Verstappen is in a position where he can afford to be magnanimous though, though time will tell if the scales between the rivals will tip.
