Six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson is known for his grueling fitness regimen. He’s inspired many others in the NASCAR garage to get more serious about their own fitness and health including drivers Landon Cassill, Matt Kenneth, Trevor Bayne, Josh Wise, crew chief Tony Gibson, and many crew members. Jimmie also started the Jimmie Johnson Foundation Wellness Challenge (http://www.jjfwellnesschallenge.org/) to inspire those in the community to incorporate fitness into their own lifestyles. His events have drawn hundreds of participants from around the greater Charlotte area and beyond.
Jimmie is also a devoted husband and father who, life most of us, struggles to balance his workouts with family time. So he often begins his workouts before 5:30 am.
Challenged by his coach, Jamey Yon, Jimmie made it out to an early morning group ride in Charlotte called the COCAC515. This ride regularly attracts upwards of 50 riders and the top speeds hit over 30mph! To make it to the start by 5:15, Jimmie had to wake up at 4 and be out of the house before 5. He said that his wife told him he’s hit a new level of crazy! To top it off, Jimmie and Jamey are hitting the pool before 9am for their 2nd workout of the day!
