Jay Leno’s life was recklessly endangered for all of two seconds when stuntman Bob Riggle overturned their vehicle on a new episode of Jay Leno’s Garage.
If you were going to indulge in extreme sports, best to put yourself in the capable hands of an expert stuntsman. Or so you’d think. Jay Leno discovered that things go belly up even for professionals, quite literally. Unfortunately, he happened to be in the car when Bob Riggle reared up on two right-side wheels, a big no-no in a Hurst Hemi Under Glass wheelie car.
Built as a promotional vehicle by Hurst in the 60’s, the car is powered by a 2,500-HP, 468 cubic-inch Hemi V8 mounted where there would usually be rear seats. The powerful engine, however, was no match for the laws of physics. The car toppled over when Riggle got a bit overconfident with its capabilities on two wheels and the two men when hurtling violently down the track as it tossed and turned before righting itself once more. They emerged unscathed from the ordeal, but God knows your world spinning nauseatingly before your eyes is the kind of thing that stays with you.
