Vettel Scores During Football Match in Honour of Schumacher

Sebastian Vettel, Felipe Massa, Nico Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez, David Coulthard, Mika Hakkinen and Mick Schumacher all took part in a charity football match in Mainz, Germany.

Although Vettel did score a goal, we don’t think he should give up the day job just yet.

The champions for charity match was in honour of Michael Schumacher and money raised went towards the Federation ‘Craniocerebral patient in need’.

Michael Schumacher used to play his fair share of charity football, and believed in the benefits that such events could raise in terms of finance and also exposure. His manager Sabine Kehm commented:

“For many years, Michael was an integral figure of such benefit soccer games. We are happy that we can offer a real highlight the fans together with Dirk, because we want so thank them for their support.”

NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki captained the Nowitzki All Stars against Vettel’s team, the basketball player added,

“Following in the footsteps of Michael Schumacher’s grand charity Kicks we want to support by joining forces good and important projects.”

– Dirk Nowitzki

Vettel remains focused on the task at hand with Ferrari this weekend, but spoke kindly of Schumacher and the success of the event.

“To kick off the weekend with a match of the Nazionale Piloti is a great start to the German Grand Prix. We usually have a lof of fun playing soccer, and of course it means something very special to us to play in honour of Michael. We will give our best to defend the reputation of us racing drivers and to beat Dirkʼs team.”
