Lewis Hamilton faces a grid penalty for an unsafe pit release that occurred earlier today in FP3. The Brit was released dangerously close to Romain Grosjean’s Haas, and the incident could cost Hamilton a grid penalty.

Hamilton could drop 10-places on the grid from his qualifying position if he is reprimanded. The incident itself isn’t severe, it’s a free practice event! But unfortunately, if he is reprimanded, he will have accrued enough naughty points to get a 10-place grid penalty.
If this materializes, the Mercedes team will be ruing the missed chance to take the double engine penalty here, because Rosberg will dominate unchallenged if Hamilton starts beyond 11th.

Grosjean has suffered his own 5 place grid-penalty after an unscheduled gearbox xhance, so it was a bit of a nightmare FP3 session for the Frenchman.
He said on the radio,
“Guys, are you sure the aero is correct? I almost spun the car and something’s happening with the gearbox.”
– Romain Grosjean
Lewis remains in the stewards office again, he won’t be too happy to say the least!
