So it actually happened. Adrian Newey and Aston Martin have joined forces to create the Aston Martin AM-RB001. It only costs $3m, so treat yourself and get a fleet!
The creation is an extreme statement in engineering. The design is single-minded in extracting maximum performance and is set to be quicker than any other road-legal hypercars out there.
Adrian Newey commented on the design of the car, which is set to have a 1:1 ratio of bhp per Kilo. He said,
“That’s the secret we’re trying to put into this car—the technology that allows it to be docile and comfortable, but with immense outright capabilities,”
– Adrian Newey
It looks like a hypercar, but beneath the sleek curves is complete aerodynamic sorcery. Newey’s basically designed a cloaked F1 car (with no regulations to adhere to). It even has a rear diffuser to deflect airflow. It goes beyond the conventions of Formula One, and highlights something that the sport has lost – Complete Engineering freedom to innovate.

Newey’s admitted that designing road cars is a bit more liberating in that there is no regulation to follow. This is surely how Formula One should be, instead of trying to be a global leader in hybrid systems. That’s like asking McDonald’s to lead research into diabetes. It just doesn’t make sense…
