Need a taxi in Belgium? This F1 star could be your driver

The summer break is officially over and 22 Formula One drivers are polishing their race helmets, making sure they’ve packed their ludicrously out-of-proportion sunglasses and raring to go back into their full-time roles.

But one guy who hasn’t got a race seat yet is McLaren’s reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne. The Belgian made a big statement back in Bahrain when he scored the team’s first point of the year after filling in for the shaken Fernando Alonso after the big accident in Australia.

Vandoorne is clearly eager to get as much driving experience as possible to show the paddock what he can do. This is why he’s being an uber driver for the day… No, seriously…

It’s a tough world out there and poor Stoffel has turned into a taxi driver to make ends meet. His taxi isn’t too shabby though!

Vandoorne has been quietly plying his trade in the Japanese Super Formula Championship and sits 9th in the standings. There is literally nothing more that the young Belgian can do to get a race seat for Formula One in 2017. Maybe his 24 hours as an uber driver will add something to his racing CV, but probably not…

The stunt was actually about a drunk-driving campaign put on by Scotch Whisky peddlers Johnnie Walker (I know, the irony hurts so much).

Even Mika Hakkinnen got involved. We all know that Finnish racing drivers like to drink hard, so he was probably pissed during the filming of this:
