Sebastian Vettel has acknowledged that the Ferrari responds well when running in a warmer climate and believes that this might aid his chances of a first Ferrari victory for 2016.
Vettel is yet to win this season, a feat that he won’t want on his record. Since 2008, Vettel has won at least a race each season barring his woeful and final year at Red Bull in 2014. He’s less likely to do a runner if Ferrari don’t give him a winning package, but Malaysia seems to be his greatest chance at winning in 2016.

The Four-time World Champion finished both Practice session near the top with a 4th in FP1 and a 3rd in FP2, the long-stint pace of the Ferrari almost a match to Mercedes. He said,
“I think we had a decent day, testing a couple of things. I have to have a look before I can say much.
Historically, we seem to do well when it’s warm. Today was quite warm. In the end we try to be competitive, I think our pace didn’t look too bad, at least from what I was told inside the car.
“If that’s the name of the game, that the hot conditions suit us, the fact that it’s always warm here might be a good thing.”

The red number 5 admitted that the underlying objective is to win, but against the ever-dominant Mercedes, it could be a bit far-fetched.
“Our target is to win a race, or win more than one race if we have the chance, but ultimately I think it comes down to doing our best and getting the maximum out of our package. Then we see where it takes us.”
– Sebastian Vettel
