Witnessing Jenson Button playing percussion whilst off his tits is a beautiful thing to behold. The Brit was cheerful after a short final Grand Prix and the adeptness he displays on the bongo shows the precision a Formula One driver needs to have in his locker.
Amazing! Jenson Button’s final race in F1 offered no justice to what has been a gigantic commitment from the Brit, who has driven in F1 for most of his adult life. After his early retirement from the race, Button said,
“I enjoyed today massively – the race was short but I enjoyed everything else. It’s been a rollercoaster ride through the years. People say it’s so sad I didn’t get another high but it’s not, I’m happy.
I was really emotional before I got in the car – it was such a special atmosphere to have the whole team and all my friends and family cheer me on my way into the garage. I’m just glad I was wearing my sunglasses at that moment…
I’m very content with all I’ve achieved in my career. Now, it’s done. I live in the moment, though, and tonight’s going to be a helluva lot of fun!
It doesn’t change anything with my feelings on ending my career, I’m very content with what I achieved. I really don’t know what the problem was. Something failed on the car, which never happens to us.
It did today, of all days.”
