Recently commenting on the disagreement he had with Mercedes team orders during the final F1 race at Abu Dhabi, Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he’s felt things were “odd” at times under Mercedes.

While we can be certain that Hamilton isn’t shaking in his boots over comments of citation and penalties regarding his behavior at Abu Dhabi, it’s interesting to see the top Mercedes driver open up a bit more regarding his views on what the team atmosphere is like. While he didn’t offer any specific examples, he did go on to state:
“There have been instances that feel a little bit odd. Definitely been some uncomfortable scenarios.” – Lewis Hamilton
It’s anyone’s guess as to what Hamilton is referring to – a popular conspiracy theory online has been that Rosberg was groomed for the win this year by Mercedes. And some are pulling on the news of his recent retirement announcement as credence for such a theory.

Personally, I don’t buy it – as we’ve got nothing but the rumor mill to go on. Hamilton did go on to comment that although things might have been “odd” at times, he did expect it:
“But, you know, I expect that – I should expect that. I think that perhaps that comes with the territory when you compete as you do, when you’ve been out front for some time… It is a tricky scenario, I guess, for a team, when they’ve got two drivers fighting for a championship. But what doesn’t kill you makes only you stronger, from experiences you learn about different characters and about yourself.” – Lewis Hamilton

In standard Hamilton fare, he’s rolling with the punches and drawings strength from the experience.
It’s still unclear where Rosberg’s abrupt announcement puts Mercedes – who’s going to be racing alongside Hamilton now?
