CompLexity Gaming’s adventure began on December 19th of last year, the day when Cory “Semphis” Friesen and Timothy “autimatic” Ta left for greener pastures at Team SoloMid. CompLexity attempted to mitigate the loss with the addition of 1.6 legend Danny “fROD” Montaner, but despite their best efforts compLexity’s roster project has struggled to pick itself up from rock bottom.
Since the start of their long term project, compLexity are approaching double figures for their number of roster changes for their starting lineup – the number soars even higher once substitutions and trials are included. Their first rendition of the lineup included only two of the current members of the lineup today – British imports Rory “dephh” Jackson and Kia “Surreal” Man. To show for their current results over the course of this project? A shitfest of last place finishes.
The key to building a team from the ground up, according to compLexity owner Jason Lake, is hard work and dedication. This has been his slogan ever since the team fielded their storied 1.6 lineup, spearheaded by current coach Matt “Warden” Dickens, enshrined in North America with their first major title (ESWC 2005).
CompLexity’s lineup think they’re digging for gold, but are actually digging their own grave. Their current lineup is like a 2.0 version of Echo Fox, filled with budding young talents, but their team structure is just completely out of place. Namely, dephh, Michael “Uber” Stappels, and Brad “androidx23” Fodor come to mind when I think of the wasted talents of this lineup. These guys are doing their part, it’s just that the team isn’t structured in a way to let them explode.
Cory “APE” Bate’s addition is not what compLexity needed in terms of nurturing young talent. Don’t get me wrong, APE isn’t that bad, but his method of leading a team is not what compLexity needs.
It is clear that compLexity’s strategical department is heavily lacking. Time and time again, the weak team synergy is exploited with basic sets and defaults that would only work against a bunch of randomers. Time and time again, before they even set a foothold on the bomb site, compLexity loses at least 2 men before being able to trade a frag against the well positioned CTs.
Is APE solely to blame for all of these problems? I don’t think so.
Kia “Surreal” Man is yet another of compLexity’s burdens, significantly denting the team’s chances of winning rounds.
T’was a long time coming since we’ve seen someone on par with the caliber of Kenneth “koosta” Suen’s time on Team Liquid. Not once have I seen Surreal in control over the game ever since he’s been handed the AWPing duties on compLexity. This guy always gets out-aimed by his peers, and plays the most obvious angles you’d expect to hold on the defence. CompLexity would be better of with a “$4750 decoy”, that’s how worthless Surreal is to compLexity’s assets. He NEEDS to go if compLexity wants any chance of success.
I’m done waiting for compLexity’s project to strike gold. It’s been nearly a entire year and they haven’t done anything to satisfy our empty stomachs.
