Formula E Grabs Nico Rosberg’s Attention

It looks like the new Motorsport darling has drawn Rosberg’s attention. Is this just interest from the sidelines or something more?

Ever since Rosberg announced his retirement from Formula One at the end of the 2016 season, folks have remained speculative that this isn’t the last we’ve seen from the German out on the track – and recent comments Rosberg has made regarding FE have some of his fans hopeful that he’ll be back in the driver seat sooner than expected.

“I’m interested in Formula E. It’s certainly increasing very quickly. We’re seeing how much success it’s having. It’s very new, it’s going in a different direction. It’s cool to follow. It has a good future and I’m definitely interested in it.” – Nico Rosberg

Alas, it may not be fated to unfold. Directly after being questioned about a potential return to racing via Formula E, Rosberg responded:

“No, I don’t think so.” – Nico Rosberg

Yelp. If that’s not a definitive response, I don’t know what is. Then again, in the field of Motorsports people continuously retire and emerge out of retirement like clockwork – just look at Felipe Massa, he’d hardly managed to close the door and put his slippers on before Williams was reeling him back in.

It looks like Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag is well aware of the fact – Respecting Nico’s wishes while simultaneously leaving an offer out on the table for him, Agag had this to say:

“I would obviously love to have Nico in Formula E, but I think he is quite decided at the moment not to race anymore. If he ever changes his mind, our door is wide open for him.” – Alejandro Agag

Who knows what the future will hold – but I’m goddamn giddy about the potential of Rosberg joining the ranks of Formula E at some point in the future – it would give them the star-studded appeal they desperately need.
