It sounds like a FAKE NEWS headline, but Ferrari star and iceman Kimi Raikkonen is planning on opening a karaoke bar in Helsinki.
Metropolitan Finland reports that the usually quiet F1 driver is a big fan of karaoke, and is planning to open a joint of his own. BWOAH-Bar? Here’s some footage of the Finnish driver hitting the notes on a break away from F1:
It’s just so obvious now the reason Kimi Raikkonen doesn’t say much over a Grand Prix weekend is because he’s lost his voice singing Finnish tunes in the week. His ice-cream addiction is clearly a means of restoring his voice box.
The Kimi karaoke bar is being developed in a location where the Iceman stores his yacht in Helsinki, the team working on the project will start renovating the area in April later this year. This isn’t the first time Raikkonen has ventured beyond the realms of F1 commercially after he launched the Iceman Long Drink, an alcoholic beverage that’ll have you Bwoah-ing before too long.
The Iceman’s team, Ferrari, have recently enquired about buying shares in the sport, but Ferrari’s President Sergio Marchionne remains on the fence.
“What I do expect, to be honest, is the sport itself to do better in 2017. And I think there would be a great basis for us to continue and to continue our commitment to Formula One, and to really set the basis for a post-2020 world.
I would expect that Liberty and Chase, in particular, would have very clear understanding that the entertainment side of this needs to come back to play. We cannot keep on committing to a sport that has decreasing audiences for a variety of reasons. And so we need to re-popularize the sport and we need to make it more accessible.”
– Sergio Marchionne
Ferrari finished the 2016 season 3rd in the Constructors, with Vettel 4th and Raikkonen 6th. The Iceman was back in form in 2016, especially in qualifying. He will need to make that Ferrari sing for the upcoming season if he wishes to achieve the unexpected and beat his teammate in 2017.
