The Red Bull Global Rallycross series contains a mouth-watering concoction of elements from other Motorsport categories and combines them to entertaining effect.
The format has the cars take off from the start line with the a similar level of force akin to drag racing. Then comes a slalom of a constantly changing terrain of tarmac, mud and grass. There are also jumps and watching a Volkswagen Beetle defy gravity before navigating a windy section of drifting is truly something to behold. It’s also wheel-to-wheel action. The format allows short, snappy, entertaining races.
Global Rallycross is a blender of elements and you have to be alert when watching the action or you’ll miss something – there is so much going on.

Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross racer Tanner Foust has won the GRC title twice. Just before cracking the whip in a 600bhp rallying Beetle, he explained to us the many attractive aspects to the sport, which is of growing interest to Motorsport nuts. GRC is basically a quick fix if you’re lucky enough to have a racing bug.
Foust has been infatuated with Global Rallycross and recalls his first time watching it.
“From the first time I saw Marcus Gronholm’s video of rallycross in Sweden, I knew I wanted to try it. It looked like a video game.
Driving a rallycross car for me, it’s this hyperactive experience. The car is more twitchy than you can imagine and more responsive than you can imagine.’
– Tanner Foust

The series offers a second-to-none experience if you’re able to make it to any of the heat races and the paddock is open to visitors. The Red Bull GRC really is shaking up the Motorsport scene, and you could be a spectator this year courtesy of Red Bull.
