Former Grand Prix motorcycle road racing World Champion Luca Cadalora holds his work with Valentino Rossi in high esteem – and confirms it will continue into 2017.
It must be quite a position to be in, one Motorcycle great advising another. It’s the situation that Luca Cadalora has found himself in over the past year – and he loves it. Cadalora started his tenancy with Rossi last year, and it didn’t take the two Italians long to hit things off in a highly positive fashion.
It appears that the work Cadalora has been doing is sitting just fine with Rossi, who has opted to keep the veteran on for another year as observer and adviser. Cadalora, on the other hand, is overjoyed he gets to continue working his dream job:
“I like this job a lot, as it makes me part of the action like if I was still riding motorcycles. We usually talk and exchange opinions. I’m always at the technical briefings and that helps too.
Valentino doesn’t need me to tell him what to do; I just give him my point of view. Then he manages all the info and decides to use it or not.
It used to be an impossible dream for me when I was racing: to watch myself riding from the outside, and that’s what I do now for Rossi.” – Luca Cadalora
Rossi, meanwhile, has also spoken out in favor of Cadalora’s work, citing that he is an invaluable asset to the team, providing crucial observational feedback as well as a genuine human connection:
“The result of working with Luca has been very positive, both from the human and from the strictly professional points of view.
First it was a gamble, I wanted to test, and then I realized that it’s very important to have someone as experienced as he is behind you.” – Valentino Rosssi
Here’s to several more years of the Italian duo getting a chance to hone their work out on the track together.
