29-year-old Webb Simpson won the U.S. Open back in 2012, also held on the West Coast (Olympic Club in San Francisco).
Maybe that has something to do with the reason why someone has been punking Simpson all week long by messing around with the nameplate on his locker at Chambers Bay.
This week, Simpson has been tweeting photos of the perpetration – someone put up “Webbron James” – obviously an ode to NBA star Lebron James. That was just the beginning.
Is someone trying to get in Simpson’s head – or is this individual just having a bit of fun? Either way, Simpson appears to be a good sport about all of it. Boys will be boys, even at the U.S. Open. Have a look at all the nameplates below, and be sure to leave a comment on which one is your favorite.
Someone at the @USGA is having some fun because every day I have a new name on my locker. This might be the best yet pic.twitter.com/7XH6RMyeuU

A new day at the @usopengolf means a new name on my locker. Any guesses what tomorrow's will be? pic.twitter.com/Wg5tkBkXET

"Charlotte's Webb" got off to a slow start today but I feel that me and my next alias will get it going tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/Cb1orHNUZG
