The 2015 U.S. Open has come and gone, and we can’t recall a course that was ever as scrutinized as much as Chambers Bay. Only time will tell if this jewel of the Pacific Northwest ever gets another major championship, but if it was up to the players, the odds would probably be stacked against it.
All week long and throughout the weekend, player reaction to the course was mixed – and that’s putting it nicely.
The Chambers Bay conditions, especially the greens, were unfortunately too much of a storyline throughout golf’s second major championship. Many players took to social media to vent their anger/annoyance of the links style course.
Here’s a compilation of many of those complaints. Bear with us as we add to this list – there’s a lot.
Chris Kirk
The U.S. Open is a great tournament with incredible history. The @usga should be ashamed of what they did to it this week.

Sergio Garcia
I think a championship of the caliber of @usopengolf deserves better quality green surfaces that we have this week but maybe I'm wrong!

If my problem is saying what everyone thinks but they don't have the guts to say it, then I'm guilty of that for sure

Brandt Snedeker
The reason why guys are leaving putts short is the practice putting greens are significantly faster than course. Hard to adjust

Ian Poulter
Ok my views on the @usopengolf course are yet to happen. I will let you all know what I think after I holed my last putt. Until then 😶

I will not be discussing the Open course with anyone so it will be quite on Twitter next week. Twitter comp results coming after Gym session

Lee Westwood
I'll bet there's some interesting tweets and comments about these greens at Chambers Bay. And the condition of them.😂

Billy Horschel
What's disappointing about @usopengolf is the fans not being about to walk around the course/get close enough to most of the greens to cheer
— Billy Horschel (@BillyHo_Golf) June 19, 2015
Fans are having a hard time walking the course. They can barely see anything from outside the ropes.
— Billy Horschel (@BillyHo_Golf) June 19, 2015
I would be pissed if I paid a lot of money for tickets and could barely see the top players hit golf shots.
— Billy Horschel (@BillyHo_Golf) June 19, 2015
I truly miss the cheers/roars when you hit a great shot. Especially if you can't see where it finished. I feed off the energy of the fans!
