Five years ago, Bubba Watson won the Travelers Championship for his first career PGA Tour win. On Sunday, Watson outlasted Paul Casey in a playoff to win at TPC River Highlands for the second time in his career. It’s Bubba’s eighth career PGA Tour victory.

After eagling the par-5 13th hole, Watson had a three-shot lead with five holes to play but finished the closing holes in 1-over-par. Meanwhile, Casey caught fire, making birdies on three of his last four holes to shoot a 5-under 65 and a force the playoff.

Casey appeared to have the edge on the first playoff hole. He was sitting nicely in the fairway, and Watson was in trouble in the rough. However, both players were able to make pars and went on to the 18th hole for the third time in less than an hour.

One has to feel bad for Casey, who suffered his second playoff loss of the season, the first coming in February at the Northern Trust Open when James Hahn defeated Casey and Dustin Johnson.

Brian Harman, the 54-hole leader, was 2 over through 10 holes Sunday, but birdied 18 to shoot a 1-under 69 and slide into third place at 15 under.
