Donald Trump’s name has been all over the news lately for his refusal to apologise for his racist comments against Mexican immigrants.
Trump – whose name is attached to the PGA TOUR’s WGC event at Trump National Doral, as well as several other prolific courses across the world – stated that immigrants from Mexico are “bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some I assume are good people.” Ricky Martin promptly cancelled his upcoming golf fundraiser at Trump’s International Golf Club Rio Grande in Puerto Rico.
Martin then vented his anger on Twitter, letting Trump know he thinks his heart is filled with “hate and ignorance” in response to the billionaire’s racist remarks.
Trump’s sickening comments are another example of the kind of bigoted fools that pollute golf. The PGA TOUR refused to comment when asked whether they would consider moving their tournament away from Trump National Doral. Surprise, surprise.
Meanwhile, as NJ.com also called golf out on its s*** as the sport has barely condemned Trump for his comments. As NJ.com’s Kevin Manahan puts it, “Golf has always been a bigoted sport.”
