Fresh off the plane from the States, Spieth made good use of the long daylight hours to get in a quick practise round at St Andrews.
Spieth made good use of the light to get in 18 holes, including playing through former World Number One Tiger Woods at the 16th green. Always the entertainer, he made time to excite the crowd at golf’s most famous hole before finishing up his day’s work.
Trying to recreate the classic Jimenez shot from the championship in 2010, Spieth dropped a ball next to the stone wall over the back of the green at the Road Hole and attempted four shots off the wall…
He was unsuccessful on all four attempts.
Eventually, the reigning US Open and Masters champion, opted for a more conventional shot, bringing cheers from the assembled crowd.
Spieth should have probably taken some tips from Jimenez before hand who absolutely nailed the shot back in 2010.
Let’s hope that we get some more classic Open moments like this one at the weekend.
