Torrential Rain Suspends Play At The Open

Heavy rain forced the suspension of play before the first group had even managed to finish the first hole on the second day of the 144th Open at St Andrews.

Play got under way at 06:32 but was suspended at 06:46 after almost an inch of rain fell between 06:00 and 08:00 to leave the course unplayable.

Groundsmen have been hard at work to sweep the water off the course, and we are now back under way.

The players will really have to adapt their game to these cold and wet conditions.
