Phil Mickelson hadn’t been making a ton of noise on The Old Course this week. The five-time major winner was 4-under after three underwhelming rounds (70-72-70).
That all started to change during Monday’s final round.
Lefty made his patented final round charge, with six birdies through 15 holes. Now at 10-under par, Mickelson was knocking on the door. Then came the road hole on 17.
Mickelson hit a tee shot so bad, that well, you just have to see this one for yourself.
If you're in room number 130 of the @OldCourseHotel you have Phil Mickelson's golf ball on your balcony #TheOpen

Poor Phil. We’re left to dream what would’ve happened if Mickelson had knocked in another birdie or two. Instead, Mickelson triple-bogeyed the 17th and parred 18 to finish 3-under for his round, and 7-under for the Championship.
