It’s the good news we have been waiting to hear for a while. According to Reuters, world No. 1 Rory McIlroy is scheduled to play a practice round at Whistling Straits, site of next week’s PGA Championship.
It must have been a tough month for Rory since he ruptured a ligament in his left ankle while playing soccer with friends on July 4th.
With all this down time, we can only imagine how good he’s gotten at the new Rory McIlroy PGA Tour game.
While there have been no official updates on McIlroy’s health, the report by Reuters suggests that recovery is on track and Rory will be giving his ankle a test run this Saturday. McIlroy’s manager, Sean O’Flaherty, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
McIlroy won last year’s PGA Championship by one stroke at Valhalla in Kentucky.
Despite missing the last month due to injury, McIlroy still clings on to the No. 1 spot, but that standing is in jeopardy this week. If Jordan Speith were to win the WGC-Bridgestone, he would jump into the top spot ahead of McIlroy.
Take it easy Rory…
