After a week of taunting us on social media, will he won’t he man Rory McIlroy was on site Saturday morning at Whistling Straits, almost guaranteeing his participation in next week’s PGA Championship.
Having suffered an atrocious ankle injury on July 4th playing soccer with his pals, the PGA Championship looks to have gotten the boost it needed after their official Twitter handle posted the below photo of McIlroy on the course.
The Golf Channel also published a video showing McIlroy bombing balls on the driving range and course.
While McIlroy continues to keep us guessing, today’s revelations almost guarantee the 4-time major champion will tee it up on Thursday. To support this claim, the PGA of America listed McIlroy in the Thursday-Friday starting times. He is also scheduled for a Wednesday news conference with the media.
According to one report by IrishGolfDesk.com, McIlroy practiced in Portugal last week where he was reportedly in fine form. The World Number 1 also made several social media posts in the past few days suggested he was going to be present at Whistling Straits.
Assuming all goes well in practice, McIlroy will tee it up in the dream threesome with Masters and U.S. Open winner Jordan Spieth and British Open champion Zach Johnson.
