Seventeen-year-old Canadian teenager Brooke Henderson won the Cambia Portland Classic on Sunday, making her the third-youngest woman in LPGA Tour history to do so.
Brooke also made history at the event by posting the course record for a LPGA competition. The 17-year-old finished 21 under overall to surpass Suzann Pettersen’s 20 under par set in 2013.
She recorded a three-under fourth round of 69 to finish eight shots clear of the rest of the field.
This eight-stroke margin is the largest in the history of the event and the biggest on the LPGA Tour since Jiyah Shin won the 2012 Women’s British Open by nine shots.
“I was just trying to keep going low and trying to push it to get even further under par, which I wouldn’t have had that a couple months ago.”
Remember the name Brooke Henderson, it looks like we will be hearing more from this girl in the future.
