Byrson DeChambeau might have a unconventional swing, but it helped him to beat Derek Bard on Sunday at Olympia Fields, to win the US Amateur.
DeChambeau also won the NCAA individual championship earlier in the year. Golfing legends, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Ryan Moore are the only other golfers to have ever completed the NCAA-US Amateur double.
“I can’t believe what I just did, I’m in golf history. I don’t understand it yet. It’s an honor to be in that field.”

This chip in at the 8th was the turning point of the game. After the round Bryson said:
“I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be able to win this championship, and with all the dedication and hard work that I’ve put into making this possible, it’s finally realized and I’m so excited and so honored to be everybody’s champion, U.S. Amateur champion,”
